Construction Inspection and Testing

Dulles Geotechnical and Material Testing Services Inc. (DGMTS) provides quality assurance and quality control inspection and testing services for earthwork, concrete, asphalt, and steel in the construction of roads, airports, buildings, and other civil infrastructure. Our expertise includes testing of concrete, soil & aggregate, and asphalt, along with inspection services for structural masonry, structural steel, sprayed-on fireproofing, exterior insulation and finishing systems (EIFS), and asphalt pavement evaluation.

DGMTS provides inspections for a wide range of structures including single/multi-family dwellings, as well as modifications/renovations of anybuilding type. Our Third-Party Inspection Program (TPIP) focuses on structural safety and stability, documentation review, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, structural/ civil and welding inspections.

DGMTS Special Inspection Program (SPI) focuses on monitoring of critical structural materials including steel construction, concrete construction, and fireproofing. Our certified inspectors ensure that footings, waterproofing/foundation drainage and concrete slabs on ground conform to all applicable codes and specifications requirements.

Drilling and In-situ Testing

Dulles Geotechnical and Material Testing Services Inc. (DGMTS) provides services of supervision of drilling, Logger services, drilling for soil investigation, water well drilling and in-site rock and asphalt coring

DGMTS owns and operates three drilling rigs and three drilling crews as well as coring equipment. Drill rig equipment is highly maintained and presently consists of one ATV CME 55, one ATV CME 45C and one truck mounted Mobile B56 drill rig. These rigs are capable of drilling up to 200 feet deep holes using hollow stem auger and mud rotary methods. All drill rigs are equipped with onboard water tanks with capacities ranging from 250-to-350-gallon. Additionally, our drill rigs are equipped with drilling fluid pumps for grouting, as well as for mud rotary drilling and/or rock coring. Our drilling department also has concrete and asphalt coring machines. Our support equipment includes service trucks, trailers, light towers, generators and welding equipment.

Each of our drill rigs is outfitted with state-of-the-art Automatic SPT Hammers for sampling the subsurface profile as drilling progresses. Our capabilities also extend to undisturbed sampling in soil and NQ core drilling in rock.

Our drilling team members are highly professional, trained and experienced in various environments, ensuring the highest quality of service.

Laboratory Testing

Dulles Geotechnical and Material Testing Services(DGMTS) offers a wide range of laboratory testing services for concrete, soil, asphalt and water analysis. DGMTS provides independent construction materials testing at our testing laboratory facilities in Chantilly and Hampton, ensuring efficiency and cost savings for our clients.

Accreditation: Our laboratories located in Chantilly and Hampton, Virginia are accredited by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL). We are a member of the Washington Area Council of Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (WACEL). Our Accreditation conforms to the requirements of ASTM D3740, ASTM E329, and AASHTO R-18. We participate in both the AASHTO and CCRL proficiency sample programs for soil and concrete.

Laboratory Management and Staff: In response to the fast paced nature of today's projects, we strive to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently through electronic report transmittals and a unique laboratory database management system. Our certified field and laboratory technicians have extensive experience across various sectors, including retail, commercial, hospitality, healthcare, energy, and transportation projects such as highways, bridges, and aviation. They are proficient in sampling and testing protocols for a wide range of materials.

We have the flexibility to hire additional staff as needed to meet project demands and ensure timely completion of all testing services.

Laboratory Equipment: DGMTS laboratories are fully equipped with all necessary equipment to perform several tests on disturbed and undisturbed soil samples, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, and water. We are well equipped to perform several tests at a time as we have multiple proctor and CBR, consolidation, and concrete compression testing equipment sets. Our Chantilly laboratory can also perm peak as well as residual direct shear tests.
